Good Wine with a Great Friend

This past Saturday I was lucky enough to spend the day with one of my best gal’s in the whole wide world, Leslie.  She’s adorable, sweet, and such a bit of sunshine that even on your worst days she ends up making you smile and wonder why on earth you were down in the dumps. She’s just quite simply, a pleasure to visit with, and I hadn’t been able to do this with her in far too long.

So for our “girl” we decided we’d first go to the outlet mall and go shopping then have lunch and finally cap off our day at a Georgia winery. Wolf Mountain Vineyards to be exact. I mean how perfect a day is that? Shopping, food, and wine.

At the outlet malls we managed to clean up. Leslie found some gorgeous shorts, a couple of shirts, and then she made the ultimate purchase. She found herself a pair of Jellies! (Hello 80’s and early 90’s!)

They were adorable and quite frankly if I’d had the money I’d have bought a pair too. I’d have also had to endure Alex’s sarcasm, but sacrifices for fashion are worth it.

I managed to snag several (read that 5+) shirts that are suitable for home and work. I also found some fun pink striped Capri pants. Aren’t they cute?!

After a quick bite to eat we headed to our grand finale, Dahlonega, GA and the winery.

There was much laughter along the drive as we tried to capture photos of highway signs saying “Georgia’s Wine Highway.” The best I was able to capture was a photo of grapes on a highway sign.

Wolf Mountain Vineyard really likes the symbol of the wolf, turns out there was a real one that died only two years ago. He’s the inspiration behind darn near everything about the vineyard.

Everything about this vineyard is GORGEOUS.  The grapes, while still growing, were a brilliant green.

The views, were in a word, breath-taking.

The wine…superb.

In fact, the wine was so good that Leslie walked away with 5 or 6 bottles, if I recall correctly, and that wasn’t counting the fact that the one wine she really wanted was still “ageing.”  (Two of the six bottles she bought were her mom’s…she’s not that big a lush.) I walked away with two bottles for myself and one bottle as a thank you gift for some friends. We definitely had a blast!

  1. Looks like so much fun! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

  2. Sounds like an amazing day! Love some good wine. Thanks for stopping by my blog for SITS day!

  3. We spent last weekend treking up to Raleigh, NC for a 12:30 pm Saturday wedding. It was quite an adventure and I hope to share it with you soon. Drove back all day Sunday…with just enough time to unload the car and get to bed before work on Monday morning. Needless to say it was a very long weekend and work week.
