Cheap Georgia Dates

If you live in or around the North Georgia area I wanted to share some cheap date ideas for June 8 – June 10…because I’m a big believer in being a cheap date.

So, many people know that Georgia is lovely and warm, but did you also know it’s the Napa Valley of the South? Well if you didn’t before you do now, and that means it’s the perfect time to go check out Georgia wine country at the annual Georgia Wine Festival.

Vineyards participating include Three Sisters, Blackstock Vineyards & Winery, Cartecay Vineyards Yonah Mountain Vineyards, Wolf Mountain Vineyards, and Tiger Mountain Vineyards. Each vineyard has FREE admission during the festival in the hopes that you will and fall in love with their wine. (I adore Wolf Mountain) Check out Georgia Wine Country for more.

And yes there are many more vineyards in the area, Georgian’s we’re just a bunch of lushes.

I’m hoping to go to this next one and explore my heritage as it’s the Blairsville Scottish Festival & Highland Games. I can go find the rest of my clan and enjoy food, music, and dancing. Woo heritage!

Another fun event this weekend (and all weekends in June) is the Saturday Concerts at Unicoi. The only cost is for parking and that is just $5. Very cheap and the perfect way to get snuggly with your honey while others entertain you. Get in touch with your southern roots by listening to bluegrass, gospel and even Appalachian Mountain singing. Here’s a sample of that:

Oh and speaking of food and drinking, the Taste of Southern Highlands occurs this weekend too. Mmm mmm! Food and wine from the local restaurants and vineyards in the Hiawassee area.

Last up we have something I bet the men will enjoy (and some of us Southern Belle’s too) by watching the Taccoa Speedway Night Racing. Happens every weekend in June and will likely involve beer and left turns.

Everyone needs a “date night” and now you know of a bunch of fun ideas that won’t cost you an arm and a leg! So go on and get cuddly with your honey. I know Alex and I will be.

  1. What great ideas, I need to get up there more often! Love the list of wineries. Yup, we Georgians aren’t just about moonshine and muscadine wine anymore, we got us some class!

Exactly!! A picnic is “cheap” but can be the best kind of date…and in this economy we all need inexpensive ideas.

Very creative ideas for inexpensive entertainment!

  4. For anyone who lives intown in Atlanta, there is the Redbull Soapbox Derby near Piedmont Park! It’s bound to be a hoot. And then you can grab lunch at Woody’s Cheesesteaks which is on Scoutmob. I love a cheap date, too. :-)
