My Mom is one crafty individual. I think she attempted to pass this gene on to me, but I only got about 20% of what she has. So it’s no surprise that no matter the occasion, no matter the time limit, and no matter the intended recipient my Mom had access to a gift AND card within moments of the request.
Me? Um , well Monday was my husband’s birthday and I kissed that night at dinner before apologizing for the total lack of card. That is how prepared I am.
The thing is I know my hubby was quite happy with the gift I did give him even though it wasn’t wrapped and it certainly wasn’t tagged with a cute little note. How awesome would it be to have a quick “peel and stick” sticker that said all that I was trying to convey? Something like this…

Its been making the rounds, the idea of a blog business card. A business card can be amazing for your blog! I mean, how many times have thought to yourself “I’d love to get the word out about my blog, but I just don’t know how!” Well a business card could be the perfect solution. As part of my Christmas gifts I received some cash. I decided to use that money and splurge on a camera bag that was fancy enough for me to wear out to dinner with Alex and not look like I was hauling around a camera bag the entire night.
(And yes I am just now getting around to talking about my Christmas gift.)
I looked at several different sites trying to decide on a bag before deciding to go with JoTotes.
I went with the Rose bag in Marigold in part because I really love yellow and in part because I wanted something girly looking, but happy.
The picture does not do this bag justice, but it’s so darn pretty and soft!
So far I have absolutely no complaints about my bag. The lining is a great pattern, even for a DAWG fan like me, and the amount of padding seems pretty great. I’ve not yet had a chance to use the shoulder strap, but I imagine it will be comfortable when I do get around to that.
I use my bag in the formation they show online, and I carry my Canon Rebel, 18-55mm lens, wallet, phone, keys, some lip gloss, the shoulder strap, and typically my FLIP video camera when I carry the camera bag. The straps really spread the weight out evenly, and even though there is only one zipper pocket inside the bag that seems to be enough for me.
I think the only thing to recognize is just how big the bag is. Even without the long shoulder strap on when I carry this bag it reaches from shoulder to hips. I’m about 5’4″ if that gives you any indication of how big the bag is.
Because of the size I do NOT carry this bag every day like I originally thought I would, but I know this will be the bag I carry when I travel since it can hold everything in a single bag for me. Plus, JoTotes has plenty of other options though if you want a smaller bag.
Definitely a great purchase and a great company that I would recommend if you are looking for, or considering, the purchase of a camera bag / purse combo.

I know it sounds crazy to think about it, but the time to order holiday cards is almost here! Luckily Shutterfly is here to help us all.
How? By crossing off Christmas cards on our “To-Do” list and helping us do it FOR FREE! That’s right, Free y’all.
I have to admit I love Shutterfly. They have the best card collection around. I have used them to make a wedding gift for Alex, anniversary gifts, and print many MANY photos so that we can enjoy our memories outside of a thumb drive. However, as per usual they have surpassed my expectations for the holiday collection.
I thought about doing a stationary card, because a personal note is always welcome during the holidays. Before I quickly realized that for us, the photo cards are the best bet, because I love adding that personal touch of a photo from our year. (Plus it helps family keep track of our aging faces :-p!)
I really love the vintage style cards as it suits our rustic, country ways. (And our cowboy boots)

But then again there is something magical about this card. It has to do with the squirrels. And the family crest. We’re the nuts around here!

Last night we started our third week of “The Love Dare” and up until now its been pretty simple. You read the daily devotion, you have a weekly dare, and occasionally you delve a little deeper by reading bible verses and reflecting on them.
The “dares” themselves have been super simple. Week one was pray. CHA-ECK! Week two was complete a task together from start to finish, and I consider grocery shopping to be said chore so BOOM! We are kicking it.
This week, “Say nothing negative about or to your spouse for it is better to say nothing than to be negative.” My immediate reaction was that this was gonna be a tougher week.

Alex just stared at me until I heard crickets. (Sorry the real ones freak me out …. no WAY was I putting an image of that on here.)
Then I had to scramble and explain that its not because I’m constantly THINKING negatives, its simply…how many times a day do you speak to your spouse and accidentally let something negative slip out. Both of you know it’s not intended poorly it just happens.
For Example. “Honey, why can’t you unload the dishwasher when you see a sink full of dishes??” or perhaps “Honey why on earth can’t you hang up your towel so it actually DRIES?”
Neither of those are “You stink!” but they are still negative. Stop and think about it for a minute. Heck try think over the last 24 hours worth of conversing with your spouse. How many negatively - connotative things did you say or do?
No seriously – please tell me. Maybe those crickets chirping was because Alex was right and I’d really rather know than be all “wow this IS a challenge” and be the only one staring at my side of the room.
