Forget Black Friday, Hello Sunday!

I’ve been lazy. Very lazy, so lazy in fact that all the Thanksgiving photos that I took much the amusement of my family have been uploaded from camera to laptop but that is it. Ergo I have no photos to share with y’all because I am lazy.

It’s a curse I tell ya.

One are I have not been lazy in is shopping. I am a champion shopper. Well a champion provided I do not have to actually get up and get dressed and you know, DRIVE somewhere. This year our Black Friday shopping was more like Cyber Sunday thru Monday shopping. In our pajamas.

The great news is I have finished ALL of the Christmas shopping and Alex only has a gift for me left (that I am aware of) and we managed to stay under budget. We only bought gifts for immediate family because of the job situation, but we’re making sure Grandparents and the like get cards in the very least. So now I’m just waiting on all of the gifts to arrive so that I can break out the fun wrapping paper and get to decorating.

Speaking of decorating, last night Alex got down all of the Christmas decor and piled it in our living room where we both just stood and stared at it in amazement. I’ll have to take a photo tonight and post it on twitter and Facebook tonight just so y’all can see what I mean.

We are SET for Christmas decor.

How are y’all doing in moving from Thanksgiving to Christmas?

Save on Your Christmas Budget

I know it sounds crazy to think about it, but the time to order holiday cards is almost here! Luckily Shutterfly is here to help us all.

How? By crossing off Christmas cards on our “To-Do” list and helping us do it FOR FREE! That’s right, Free y’all.

I have to admit I love Shutterfly.  They have the best card collection around. I have used them to make a wedding gift for Alex, anniversary gifts, and print many MANY photos so that we can enjoy our memories outside of a thumb drive. However, as per usual they have surpassed my expectations for the holiday collection.

I thought about doing a stationary card, because a personal note is always welcome during the holidays. Before I quickly realized that for us, the photo cards are the best bet, because I love adding that personal touch of a photo from our year. (Plus it helps family keep track of our aging faces :-p!)

I really love the vintage style cards as it suits our rustic, country ways. (And our cowboy boots)

Clearly not Alex and I

But then again there is something magical about this card. It has to do with the squirrels. And the family crest. We’re the nuts around here!

Not our Boys – Our's are Furrier.

But then again, there is something so wonderfully classic about a good ol’ fashioned card. Simplistic, yes, but also beautiful.

Time to Wrap it Up

Well its the end of 2010 and I for one can’t wait to see what 2011 brings us. Right now I’m working on the brand-new blog header for January (and playing World of Warcraft) so this will be a short post today. I’m not really going to push it out there for everyone to see, but I did want to share Alex’ surprise stocking for everyone to see.

Christmas Eve after Alex went to bed I gathered the supplies I had acquired when I went to Wal-Mart earlier that day (And holy cow will I plan much better in the future. Never. Ever. Again.) I laid everything out in our laundry room and started to stuff his stocking. [Read more...]

The Most Wonderful Part of the Season

One of my absolute favorite things about the holidays is visiting with people.

Especially people I don’t see often. And while spending time with my family was super wonderful, probably one of the biggest highlights of the entire Christmas days off mini-vacation I had, was seeing old friends.

We went to dinner and talked and talked and talked (no really, we talked so long that the servers finally asked if they could have one of our tables to seat other people) about what was going on in our lives now and reminiscing about when we were younger. It’s great to see the fluidity of our friendships as we all get older. [Read more...]

I’m Dreaming of A White Christmas

Hi y’all! I haven’t forgotten you; I hope you haven’t forgotten me. Hello? Anyone?

Wowser was Christmas 2010 a bit of a rush this year.  I hope everyone had a great holiday and enjoyed themselves immensely! I don’t know about y’all but Santa must have decided I was dang good this year.

My gifts ranged from a Nutcracker (I love these guys) to towels and storage containers. All in all I was very happy about what I received. The only thing I wasn’t so dang happy about? [Read more...]

Stuffing the Stocking

ACK! I have a holiday emergency. A small one, but an emergency nonetheless. And it all has to do with a sock! A very special sock I might add. It’s Alex’s sock. His cowboy boot style sock that hangs from our Mantle.

Since Alex has to get up at 2:30 on Christmas morning and head in to work I thought that I’d sneak his stocking into his Jeep for him to find. He’s pretty bummed about working and I thought that this might just make him smile on his way in, but … I haven’t shopped for this at all. [Read more...]

The gift that keeps on giving

Well to continue on with yesterday’s theme about gifts, Alex and I started talking about the best and worst gifts we’ve ever received. It was quite a hilarious conversation as we recounted what were probably some of the most awkward gifts we’ve ever gotten. I mean really, who doesn’t remember the BEST gift and the WORST gift they have ever gotten? You do right? [Read more...]
