Our Big News

Hello Internet Friends! I am so sorry for effectively dropping off the face of the planet. You see, I did / do have some big news to tell you but other than that our days have consisted of well nothing.

No, not even laundry. (Big surprise there.)

So I really had nothing to blog about. Well except for that one thing. That big news I had to share. See Alex and I went to go to the gun range last Monday, but on the way there I got a gut feeling in my tummy. So we chatted and by the end of the evening we knew we’d be expanding our family.

Meet Gimli.

(Wait you thought we were pregnant? Ooops! LOL nope that is not the case AT ALL since insurance doesn’t like paying for fertility treatments.)

Gimli is the SWEETEST dog. We are actually the lucky ones to have found him.

You see before he met his last Mommy and Daddy he was malnourished, abused, and permanently injured. Then his previous Mommy and Daddy rescued him when he was six months old. Unfortunately due the economy they have to move and Gimli and his siblings needed new forever homes. No one wanted to adopt Gimli because of that permanent injury, but Alex and I are saps. Plus he gets along in our family already. Cats and all have accepted this new arrangement and are actually currently snoozing in various positions around my body as I type.

Besides how can you turn away this face?

Rambling, Tumbling, and Stumbling

My brain is so darn busy right now. I can’t seem to focus on anything, but I’m sure this will change soon as the new meds kick in.

This past weekend was just slam full of things to do. I went shopping with my Momma at Garden Ridge and managed to find the perfect holiday sign.

This really would save Santa a ton of time!

The main reason we went to the store though was for flowers for my Brother’s grave. Rather than go with the pre-made flowers I wanted to make a bouquet which is what I sat and did Sunday evening.

The entire weekend the cats would not leave us alone. Harley insisted on chilling with Daddy and well Beezle. I think he had an issue with me taking a private bath and as such climbed right on into the tub!

On an update note, per the doctor the meds were what was making me darn near looney! However, quitting cold turkey was not my smartest move either. I had thought I was getting the flu since I was dizzy all the time, achy, so darn tired and just plain ol sick feeling but that was just me coming off the meds. YUCKO! Word to the wise, do not cold turkey quitting unless you give yourself a few days to get off them.

Other than that we’ve been prepping for Christmas. We were able to start wrapping gifts since we’re done shopping. Well Alex still has a gift to buy, but that’s on his “to-do” list not mine! Plus, despite being on vacation yesterday I worked from home for a while just to ensure I didn’t lose my mind when I went back to work today.

All in all it was a great weekend, if only I could FOCUS!

Smile for the Camera

Last night we took our Christmas photos to utilize on our Shutterfly Christmas Cards.

As always hilarity ensued. Alex and I can’t seem to help joking around with one another as we take a photo.

Then of course I wanted to make sure we got a photo with the cats. They were just THRILLED to be a part of this photo. Can’t you tell?

We were finally able to take a photo that we can use on the card. Which meant Alex thought we were done, but oh no. I, the ever annoying photog of the family, decided we needed a photo of just him to send to his Grandparents.

(Being the annoying photog is great. You get out of photos faster AND get to torture your family and friends longer.)

(And if you’re lucky you get hilarious photos out of it.)

(I hope so or Alex will use this as the perfect excuse for me to stop annoying him with my camera at Christmas time.)

Things I am Thankful For…

What a week. Already.

Its November y’all, heck, its November 9th which means Thanksgiving is only a week and a half away! That just blows my mind and yet it reminds me of how much I should be thankful for the many things we have.

You see in the last two weeks we’ve experienced a lay off, and more recently the dreaded health emergency. It is just those two things that make me realize that I am thankful for.

I am thankful for the grump coughing on our couch right now. Yesterday’s rather exhausting visit to the ER made me very grateful that we were able to come home at the end of the day and sleep beside one another.

I am thankful for free WiFi. Turns out the hospitals now offer free WiFi which blows my mind and yet makes me grateful because I was able to stay with Alex and continue to work which is very important right now.

I am thankful for a college age brother who decided to skip class to make sure I had a chance to grab something to eat. (I know a college kid who sacrificed going to class for his sister and brother-in-law. Amazing!)

I am thankful for family who are willing to come help at a moment’s notice. I realize not everyone is lucky enough to have the ability to help like that or to have help close by like that and it makes me all the more grateful for having it in my life.

I am thankful for a job that does allow me to pay all the bills and handle an ER trip without completely losing my mind. Its half gone but you know, can’t do much about that!

Lastly, I am thankful for little fuzzy beings like this. Who for some odd reason want to help me type on the computer.
