Y’all, July is next week. WTF is up with that? This also means that next week is my birthday and to say I’m so not prepared for that is an understatement. Dear Family – I have no bloody clue what I want unless you know how to gift a brain for clearly mine is lacking.
Anyway, in part due to my birthday and in part due to the good ol’ U.S. of A. we celebrate each Fourth of July (regardless of the weather if you recall) with a lot of things that go KA-BOOM. Which meant that we seriously needed to get our game on in terms of prepping.
So my Dad, as he does almost every year, decided that it was time for a quick road trip over the border to TN. Copperhill, TN to be specific. This year, I joined in so that I could select some of my favorite colors, shapes, and styles of various fireworks BIRTHDAY CANDLES BABY!
Dad, being Dad, and wise in the ways of OMG its hot down here decided we had to be up and at ‘em bright and early Saturday morning. So rather than sleep in I was up by 8 a.m. getting some blue jeans, sneakers, t-shirt and helmet on. Why a helmet? Well because Dad road trips on a motorcycle. (Seriously y’all I’ve been riding with him since I was an infant.)
Along the way we passed a cycling race and I had to laugh because we were on a bike and they were on a bike. Their bike may be much more healthy for everyone and everything, but our bike is a lot faster! (And shiny…what this gal’s favorite color is chrome.) Once we got to TN I walked around to encourage blood to settle back into my bum and thus lose the constant vibration feeling that several hours on a motorcycle will do to you. 20 minutes in the store and we had cleaned up!
Or in other words, spent the maximum allowable by Bank of Daddy budget. Well that and you know avoiding the “how could I set my house on fire this year” type fireworks. This meant it was time to load up and head on back. A quick photo of us, before we melted of heat in our helmets and we were back on the road.
(Dad was frazzled or lost or honestly I have no clue. Funny face Daddy!)
What did y’all do this weekend and what are your plans for the Fourth?

There is something completely awesome about dating your spouse. This is exactly what we did Sunday. We went on a date.
